Salary

  • First year RESIDENTIAL staff members earn $400 per week. Second year staff members earn $430. Third year staff members earn $460. Fourth year staff members and beyond earn $490.
  • First Year DAY camp staff members earn $300 per week. Second year staff members earn $330. Third year staff members earn $360. Fourth year staff members earn $390.
  • Camp Assistants may volunteer or receive a weekly salaried rate of $160. Returning staff members earn $10 more per week for each summer worked to a maximum of $190.
  • Staff salaries for all positions are directly deposited into staff member’s personal accounts every two weeks.  
  • International Staff are compensated within the terms of their contract between the international staffing company and CYO Camp. ​

Residential Time Off

General Camp Staff and some Leadership staff members are required to work at least four of the camp weeks.​
  • Leadership positions that require 8 weeks are allotted five personal days. No more than two may be taken consecutively.
  • Camp Assistants are scheduled to work 1-3 weeks of the camp weeks.
  • Time off is provided daily. Weekend time off begins at 4pm on Friday and ends at 9:30am on Sunday.​

Residential Staff Training

Additional Optional Training Opportunities

General Camp Staff and Leadership Applicants who are interested and qualified may attend the following training(s) prior to camp staff training. Indicate the training you are interested in on the application. An interview will help determine if applicants are a good match for the classes.  


Wrangler Training

Qualifications: Experience working with horses and people together. Comfortable around horses and desire to learn horsemanship skills.

May 16 & 17.


American Lifeguarding Certification

Qualifications: Be a strong swimmer. Interest in and capable of earning lifeguard certification. Ability to complete online course work before arriving for LG training, approximately 7 ½ hours.

May 16-18.


Challenge Course Training

Qualifications: Climbing experience helpful. Comfortable climbing heights. Camp experience is helpful. 

May 19-22.


Adventure Staff Training

Qualifications: Camp staff and leadership experience. Comfortable with heights, caves, and primitive camping. Experience working with teens. 

May 20-22.


Inclusive Counseling Training

Qualifications: Experience with or education in working with children who have disabilities. Camp staff experience is helpful.

What we ask of our counselors?

Working at CYO Camp Rancho Framasa is meaningful and challenging. Before applying, please take a moment to review the expectations below:

Training & Living Expectations

  • Staff training is mandatory, and all staff live on-site during this training period.
  • Counselors live in cabins with campers throughout the summer.

Technology & Cell Phone Use

  • Cell phones may only be used during scheduled time off.

Phones may NOT be:

  • Visible to campers
  • Used as clocks or alarms
  • Carried while supervising campers
  • Used or stored in cabins

Phones may be:

  • Charged in the staff lounge
  • Used for calls/texts during scheduled time off
  • Used in the evenings by staff not on cabin duty, at least 50 yards from any cabin and out of sight and sound of campers
  • Used freely during weekend time off

Health & Safety

  • All personal medication (prescription or OTC) must be stored & locked in the Health Care Center, not in cabins or backpacks.
  • The health of all staff is monitored. Illness or injury may impact continued employment based on recommendations from the camp nurse, a licensed physician, and the staff member’s supervisor.
  • Physical, verbal, or sexual abuse or harassment of campers or staff is strictly prohibited and results in immediate dismissal.

Faith Life at Camp

  • While camp’s programming is rooted in Catholic values, staff do not need to be Catholic.

Staff are expected to:

  • Pray with campers and staff
  • Lead prayer
  • Attend Mass (services) with campers

Substance Use

  • Illegal drug use is prohibited.
  • Smoking is not permitted.
  • Underage drinking is prohibited.

Staff age 21+ must drink responsibly and never:

  • Bring alcohol on camp property
  • Return to camp under the influence
  • Consume alcohol during camp sessions or activities

Community Expectations

  • Gossip and negativity harm our community and are not tolerated.
  • We expect counselors to contribute to a positive, supportive environment.

Food & Dietary Needs

  • A vegetarian option is available at each meal.
  • Alternative meals are provided for staff with food allergies.

Pets

  • Personal pets or animals may not be brought to camp.

Dress Code

  • Staff receive two camp shirts to wear on the opening and closing days of each session.
  • Otherwise, counselors are expected to dress modestly, recognizing their role-model position for campers.
